Using MB - notes database
Meadowlark Bridge includes a database for storing notes that you can use to keep track and document your bridge knowledge. This database is of text notes. The unique feature is that each note can be linked to a bidding sequence.
Here is the dialog box you will use with explanations that follow. It is reached from the menu selection: [Bridge Hands] [Evaluate][Notes]
To get started, make a new note by typing a topic in the the topic text control and a note in the note editing box.
But we have a bridge database. Let us power up. We will make a note that uses the sequence information. Putting notes into a database is easy, but retrieving them and finding them could be difficult. That problem is solved by adding additional information as links with the note. The links are to sequences in the bidding engine.
Now add another note, but this time have the first search box input of the desired sequence, in our current case that being 1N:P:2S
The MSS note has been added. We can now search for it.
Let us say that you want to review a) the minor suit stayman notes or b) your bidding system with John. To do a) you should type 1N:P:2S into the upper search box. The result is all notes that are linked to that sequence. On the other hand, if you want to review all of your system notes with John as in b) then you would add (John) into the lower search box. Now every note that has been linked to John is available. If you have notes that are not linked to this sequence you can find them by type minor or MSS or some other text to find those notes.
Editing. You can edit the notes by 1) seaching to get the headers desired then 2) clicking on a header to see the note, and 3) to edit, click edit then 4) make changes in the right lower text box and finally 5) then click update. For example, if you also added minor suit stayman to your system with Martha you can edit her name into the note.
